Emma Robertson
Emma Robertson is an aspiring neuroscientist whose passions for helping people, acquiring scientific knowledge, and destigmatizing neurodiversity motivated her summer visitorship with the DDTRP. Emma is currently a junior at Smith College, pursuing a neuroscience major and education minor. Through her exploration of these fields, Emma strives to better understand the etiology, phenomenology, and treatment of various psychiatric conditions, including PTSD and DID. Interested in youth and adolescent development, Emma is particularly struck by the long-term effects resulting from childhood trauma, including the diverse psychophysiological adaptations that manifest in the body and brain as forms of trauma resilience.
Over the past few years, Emma has explored her science- and human-centered passions as a camp counselor at an adaptive summer camp, ambassador of the Smith College STEAM Team, and member of the Smith College Global Medical Brigades. Through her summer involvement and research with the DDTRP, Emma hopes she will strengthen her affinity for people and recognize how that affinity can be brought into more neuro-scientific contexts.
